1928 silent comedy stars famous funny man Harold Lloyd and features cameo appearances by baseball greats Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

The Norman Studios Silent Film Museum and the Hotel Indigo® Jacksonville will screen Speedy at the next Silent Sundays event on Sunday, August 20, 4pm. This special screening is a follow up to the August 8 Silent Movie Night with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.

In this 1928 silent comedy starring Harold Lloyd, Speedy is unfazed at losing his job as a soda-jerk, spending the day with his girl, Jane, at Coney Island and soon landing a new job as a taxi driver. This job, too, ends quickly, with Speedy managing just one passenger – a harried Babe Ruth on his way to Yankee Stadium. While ditching work to watch the game, Speedy overhears a plan by a shady competitor to disrupt and take over the city's last horse-drawn streetcar business, owned by Jane's grandfather. With that, Speedy lives up to his name, racing through town with his trusty canine cohort in an effort to save Pop Dillon's business and win Jane's heart. But is he fast enough?

Most know Babe Ruth as one of professional baseball's all-time greats. But diehard fans know he also took a shine to the silver screen, appearing in ten feature and short films between 1920 and 1942. Speedy, Ruth's third film, also features a blink-and-you'll-miss-it, uncredited cameo by fellow player and friend Lou Gehrig.
