Sarod artist Bruce Hamm is a long time disciple of the revered Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Known for his passionate interpretation of his Guru's teachings, Bruce performs regularly throughout the USA and India. He has performed with some of India's leading tabla players, and had the honor of playing onstage with his guru. He has been a teacher at the Ali Akbar College of Music since 1982.
Born into a musical family (his father was the well known musicologist Charles Hamm and his brother is the famous bass player Stu Hamm) Bruce was immersed in music since early childhood. As a teenager he discovered and fell in love with Indian Music. He began learning with Ali Akbar Khan in 1974 and continuously studied vocal and instrumental music with him until Khansahib's death in 2009. He resides in the California Bay Area where he is a popular and respected teacher, carrying on the tradition of the Maihar Ghana
