Dignity U Wear was founded in 2000 by Henri Landwirth, a philanthropist, Korean War veteran and Holocaust survivor. As a young boy, during the war Henri suffered the loss of his parentss. After years of imprisonment, he was liberated. He was free, but alone and homeless.

Unbroken by his circumstances, Henri emigrated to the United States and worked tirelessly to become a successful entrepreneur. One day while visiting a homeless shelter, he asked what he could do to help. A man answered with a question of his own. “Have you ever know what it’s like to not have any underwear?” Henri replied simply, “I do know. I was homeless for years.”

From that conversation, Dignity U Wear was born and since that day millions of people of all ages have been served the gift of new clothing. Dignity U Wear works with more than 200 social service agencies located across the nation. Because of the close partnerships the organization has forged with leading clothing manufacturers, new clothes are sent direct to Dignity U Wear’s headquarters and warehouse in Jacksonville, Florida. Next, the clothing is sorted and boxed by style, size and gender. Clothes are now ready to be re-packaged for agencies who place requests based on needs.
