Kairos Creature Club

The project of Lena Simon (La Luz) and Glenn Van Dyke (BOYTOY), KCC emerged as a sonically enigmatic group with their debut, Join the Club EP (Greenway Records, 2021), bending the signifiers of mainstream and more-marginal musical approaches, from dream pop and psychedelic rock to post kraut and post-punk. After years of playing in bands confined by genre, Van Dyke and Simon founded KCC definitively as an exploration of music. As an ever-evolving project, KCC is fueled by collaboration, the duo seeking out individuals who are moved by the moment, and subsequently capturing the minutiae when different combinations of artistry and creativity collide. On April 10, 2024 KCC announced a new self-titled full-length (due out June 7 on Greenway Records), and shared the album's first single “Deleuzean,” a spiraling, sub-four-minute post-rock narrative about the madness of perspective when attempts at mutual understanding lead to further discord and friction. Swirling synths and celestial guitars are layered over Simon’s break-beat-nodding drum pattern, establishing a foreboding setting for the story’s characters – both of whom Van Dyke inhabits through ethereal vocals, ping-ponging between a first - and third-person narration. While KCC is about kismet and synergy, the new S/T full length finds Simon and Van Dyke taking the reins as producers and flexing as songwriters. KCC is out June 7 on Greenway Records.

Leah Senior

Leah Senior silences audiences with her ethereal vocals and unique lyricism. Hailed by critics as a divine masterpiece, her latest album The Passing Scene is a charming expansion on her previous two records lilting between spring time baroque-pop and 70s folk. The Passing Scene effortlessly waves together themes of impermanence, the natural world, loss and ultimately hope.

“This is a wonderful record that has been thought about in high details and executed with an immaculate, artistic sensibility from start to finish. The songs present on The Passing Scene are timeless”. 9/10- Beat Magazine

A chance late night encounter with King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard saw Leah Senior joining their independent label Flightless. Senior’s distinctive voice featured on King Gizzard’s apocalyptic album Murder of the Universe, as the omnipresent female narrator. Early 202, Senior joined members of King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard to rewrite the soundtrack for cult classic “Suspiria” and perform it live at Hamer Hall.

“Leah Senior” is an amazing folk singer, very, very talented, and nothing like King Gizzard’s music all. Her songs equally terrifying, joyous, sad and exciting. We get chills watching her perform”.- King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

Senior’s second album Pretty faces was recorded and produced with Gizzard’s own Joey Walker and features Michael Cavangah on drums. The album was nominated for Best Folk and Roots album at The Age Music Victoria Awards.

“Enchanting… Recalling Joni Mitchell playfulness through cosy folk, minimalism”- Rolling stone Australia.
