Jo Smith, a soulful and gritty songwriter from south Georgia, makes music that is an extension of herself. A passionate storyteller, Jo remains inspired by the countless hours she spent spinning her dad’s vast collection of vinyl records as a child growing up on her family’s cattle farm.

Her new EP Introducing Jo Smith masterfully brings listeners into her world. With the help of production super-team Shane McAnally (Sam Hunt, Kacey Musgraves) and Jesse Frasure (Thomas Rhett, Meghan Trainor), Introducing Jo Smith is a modern take on an old sound, and manages to strike the elusive balance between vulnerability and empowerment. Jo Smith’s unique sound fearlessly forges together the unlikely influences of Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, James Taylor, KT Oslin and Keith Whitley. And it’s catching on.

Named a Rolling Stone One To Watch in 2017, and the first female Highway Find on Sirius XM in 2017, Jo, and her JoTown Sound as she likes to call it, is catching on. In 2018 she joins the the prestigious CMT Next Women of Country, and her single “Old School Groove” is added to the widely-followed crossover Spotify playlist Wild Country. In response to her solo acoustic show which is gathering steam in musical hotbeds like Asbury Park, NJ, Jo will also be releasing an acoustic record in 2018.
