Hi, I'm Meghan. I've been backyard beekeeping for four years, and I am an advanced beekeeper in the University of Florida's Master Beekeeper Program. I run Honey Bee A Keeper, I teach philosophy at UNF, and I teach toddlers at Montessori Tides. My passions are bees, the environment, and education!

This 4-hour course will highlight all of the essentials for getting started with backyard beekeeping. We will introduce bee biology, reproduction, and social structure, as well as the basics for getting started with beekeeping, including necessary equipment, legal requirements, where to get bees, and pest management techniques. We will also compare and contrast various approaches to beekeeping (e.g., “natural”, “organic”, and “conventional”) to find the philosophy that’s right for you. While our focus will be primarily on hobbyist level beekeeping, all those interested in honey bees or beekeeping generally are encouraged to register.
