Caitlin Mahoney is an independent singer-songwriter whose voice has been praised as “powerful and soulful - a mix of Adele and Fiona Apple.” After a decade of making and releasing music in NYC, Caitlin headed west for a while to Los Angeles for a change of scenery to seek out some fresh inspiration. The result is her 3rd full-length album “Name What I Need” - a mature, hopeful reflection on boundaries, burnout and self-love drenched in synth pop sounds and featuring the warm, dynamic vocals she has become known for across the US and Europe. Caitlin spent a short-but-sweet two years in LA, and she recently chronicled her return to her home state of Florida in a lyric video featuring her song “Forest” — one of a number of singles Caitlin has released this year ahead of the new album’s release in 2024. Caitlin and her dog Annie are excited to discover their new home base of Northeast Florida and Atlantic Beach.
Caitlin’s music projects have always prioritized highlighting and celebrating other creative women in addition to herself, prioritizing femme-led music videos, graphic design, photography, and visual art. The Washington Post premiered a music video for a song from the album called “Burn The Book” which featured personal stories of four women writers in collaboration with the NYC literary community HIP Lit. The video accompanied a social movement called “The Burn The Book Project,” inspiring women to light a match to societal pressures imposed upon them, and to write and share their stories. Her latest music video, "Feelin' Free" tells a story of self-love and acceptance, where Caitlin dances with her "former selves" played by LA dancers Liv Mai and Genna Moroni. She and her alter-egos dance through waves of harmony and conflict, ending in an embrace and exhale of peace and self-acceptance. The music video was produced by a majority women cast and crew in downtown Los Angeles.
Her music has been featured on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Freeform's The Fosters and Good Trouble, the Family Channel in Canada, Daytrotter, and Starbucks stores throughout the United States. Her performance and songs appear in a number of indie short films and the feature film "Women & Sometimes Men" which was featured at the Chelsea Film Festival and the Portland Film Festival.
Since 2013, Caitlin has played hundreds of shows across the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy.
