“Rock and roll gives voice to our rebellious and primal impulses, blues to the melancholy side of love. Americana stretches the continuum to include the deeper and more reflective side of life and all its rich and diverse tapestry. Whether it’s someone searching for God on a highway through the Great Plains or a burned-out waitress looking for redemption in a smoky, after-hours dive, the story is best expressed in Americana.” -- Ample Angst.
Ample Angst formed in 2017 as an “Americana” collaboration of local vocalist and Alhambra theater performer Olivia Chernyshev, UNF violinist, Joseph Henderson, and songwriter/guitarist, Mike Bernos to back up popular New York-based singer-songwriter, Morley, at the CASK. The band soon became a regular at the 5-Points venue. The band was joined by bassist/vocalist Cyrus Quaranta, whose rich, John Legend-tinted vocals added harmonic texture to Chernyshev’s crystal clear voice. The group just finished up its 4-song EP, Thunder and Rain, on which legendary cellist, Dave Eggar scored and performed on the title track.
Ample Angst has performed on WJCT’s Electro Lounge and is scheduled for a live performance on public radio's WLNR, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, on Michael Stock’s Acoustic Show, January 28.
