Agventure awaits...

This tour is the first into the Tri-County Agricultural Corridor, conceived in 2016 by the St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop Alliance, as a multi-aspect project to help preserve family farms in St. Johns, Putnam and Flagler counties. The tour will provide visitors a sampling of what the corridor offers.

Summary of Tour:

Date: April 14th, 8:45AM to 1:00PM

Flagler College Enactus Project Leader Natalia Fernandez, and St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop Alliance Economic

Development Projects Coordinator, Herb Hiller will be leading the tour.

Schedule of Events:

8:45 a.m.-- Assemble/depart from Rype and Readi Farm, 5780 County Rd 305, Elkton, FL 32033.

9:15 a.m.-- Arrive Saturiwa Conservation Area. A guided tour of a 94-acre longleaf pine restoration, wetlands, abundant wildlife and boardwalk landing on the St. Johns River. Includes visit to the resource center of the family homestead and tree-shaped cookies. Address: 2425 CR13 S, Elkton, Fl 32033

10:15 a.m.-- Arrive Blue Sky Farms. 4805 County Road 13 S, Elkton, FL 32033. Introduction of Greg Jones. Visitors will be shown the technology that goes behind the potato harvesting. Opportunity to purchase potatoes.

11:00 a.m.-- Arrive downtown Hastings. Short walking tour of this one-time hub of the Tri-county Agricultural Area, long down on its luck, ready for renewal since guides will be one or two civic leaders; tour includes view of the new trail section almost complete through town, a portion of the 260-mile St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop. Catch a coffee or a bite if the new restaurant is open; otherwise from a prearranged set-up.

12:00 p.m.-- Arrive County Line Produce in Hastings, where an adjacent farm owner sell its produce at a widely popular stand in its second half-century. At County Line Produce, visitors can purchase a multitude of fresh local fruits and vegetables.

12:30 p.m.-- Return to Rype & Readi Farm, Elkton for the Inaugural Blues and Brunswick Stew, Blueberry Festival Brunch. Visitors will eat brunch, and be merry.

  • Wear closed toe shoes, and ones that you don’t mind getting dirty!
  • Bring coolers for any produce or pies you would like to bring home.
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses bug spray… it’s Florida in the springtime- you know the drill.
  • Bring open ears, and an open mind… and have your camera ready! You will experience beauty in nature that you’ll want to capture.
