About This Event
This course teaches the basics of growing tomatoes from seed to harvest. We will cover seed selection basics, starting plants from seed and propagation, basic soil testing and amendments, plant hardening and transplanting, fertigation, watering techniques, various plant supports, culling and thinning, and basic care.
The weather will be hot, water and refreshing drinks will be available from our own produce, feel free to bring your own chairs. Even though we will be in the shade for the most part, sunscreen and hats are advisable.
Lunch will be provided. Most of the food will be sourced locally. The menu will consist of high quality ground beef courtesy of The Chop Shop St. Augustine, Hastings potatoes, fresh green salad from various local scourced, fresh herbs from our farm and fresh picked fried okra.
