Floating Lantern Packages are no longer available for purchase online. A very limited number of lanterns will be for sale at the event. Remember, lanterns not purchased via the festival website will not be allowed to take part in the festivities.
Please do not purchase lanterns from people you do not know on Facebook or other social media sites. More than likely it is a scam. Remember, everyone will pick up their lanterns at the event and not before. If you don't have a 904TIX receipt you do not have a lantern package waiting for you.
Modeled after water lantern floats held in tropical locations like Hawaii, we believe this new event will become a First Coast tradition. Bring your children, friends and neighbors and share what makes you happy and thankful—and do it in a way that creates lifelong memories for all. Picture a beautiful lake filled with glowing lanterns gently floating across its shimmering waters (photo above is from the annual Lantern Float Hawaii). More than just pretty decorations, each water lantern will be adorned with personal messages of hope and thanks.
And you are invited to be a part of it all.
Use your lanterns to create twinkling one-of-a-kind works of art featuring drawings and words of hope, love, kindness and peace. Write a prayer in remembrance of a deceased loved one, make a wish for the upcoming new year, give thanks to blessings received in 2019, ask Santa for a special present...it’s up to you. Use your lantern to express messages that are closest to your heart.
Your pre-ordered lanterns and materials will be ready and waiting for to you at the event. Look for the check-in tent when you arrive. Be sure to have your ticket—either a printed copy, or on your smartphone. Please note that lanterns not purchased through the North Florida Floating Lanterns Festival will not be permitted to be a part of the event. At approximately 7:30 PM—about two hours after the sun has set in the western sky—festival goers will be invited to launch their lanterns into the glimmering water. All lanterns will collected at the end of the evening.
In addition to the cost of materials, each lantern purchase pays for the night's entertainment, removal of lanterns at event’s end and cleaning the lake as necessary, as well as a donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida. Lanterns are made from 100% biodegradable paper and wood. No candles or open flames of any kind are permitted. All lanterns will be collected at the end of the event but will not be returned.
Please note: We are not releasing flying lanterns into the air. It is illegal to do so in the state of Florida.
Each ticket purchased for this event comes with a complimentary subscription to Jacksonville Magazine.
