Join Meghan Orman (Honey Bee A Keeper) philosophy teacher, Montessori educator, and avid beekeeper. Meghan has been keeping bees for three years, and studying them for more than five. She will introduce us to the bee's life and help us understand how to support them.

This 4-hour course we will cover all the essentials for getting started with backyard beekeeping. We will cover bee biology, reproduction, and social structure, as well as the basics for getting started with beekeeping, including necessary equipment, legal requirements, where to get bees, and pest management techniques. We will also compare and contrast various approaches to bee keeping (e.g., “natural”, “organic”, and “conventional”) to find the philosophy that’s right for you. While our focus will be primarily on hobbyist level beekeeping, all those interested in honey bees or beekeeping generally are encouraged to register. (includes a workbook and honey tastings).

You may cancel or change your class registration at least 72 hours before the scheduled class, subject to a 10% administrative fee and for store credit only. Registration changes are subject to availability in another scheduled class, and if you cannot attend any of the classes on our current schedule we will send you a gift card that can be used in the store or toward a future class. We cannot accommodate cancellations or registration changes within 72 hours of the scheduled class. Your class registration is completely transferrable to another person at any time, so if you cannot attend a class you are welcome to give it to a friend – just let us know about the change! Please don't ask us to change this policy.
