Launching this spring is the Jacksonville Magazine's Explorers Club, a new series of exclusive tours to fascinating destinations across the region. The club's first outing is to beautiful Jekyll Island, Georgia.
Take a stroll under the oaks and through the exquisite winter cottages of millionaires like William Rockefeller. Sip regional craft brews and wine while Club members from the Gilded Age tour you through their beloved, historic homes.
The event will include tours of two fully furnished and restored Jekyll Island Club homes – Moss and Mistletoe Cottages. Goodyear Cottage, the home of the Jekyll Island Arts Association, will also be open for guests to browse and shop local artwork. All cottages are located along the scenic Jekyll River, and are within an easy walking distance of each other so guests can stroll between each home at their leisure.
On the front porch of each home, complimentary beer and wine will be served, as well as delicious light hors d'oeuvres. After the event, guests are encouraged to stay on the island for dinner at local island restaurants, including the historic Grand Dining Room at the Jekyll Island Club Resort. Or, make a night of it and stay at one of the many local hotels.
