Our annual fundraiser is back and better than ever!
The Taste of Amelia Island is the major, annual fundraiser of Nassau County Volunteer Center. This year’s 25th Anniversary event, Giving Back Looking Forward – A Silver Celebration of Service, will be held at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation, in the Amelia Ballroom.
The 2016 Taste of Amelia Island is a completely re-branded event, offering guests the opportunity to sample cuisine from the island’s best restaurants while enjoying a selection of fine wines compliments of San Sebastian Winery, Prestige Wine Imports, and The Sheffield Family.
The event includes a Silent Auction featuring a wide range of items that mirror the food in being a “taste” all there is to do, see and experience on Amelia Island, complimented by nature and history exhibits, a 50/50 raffle, and the first-ever “Best Dish of the Taste” award voted on by attendees and announced that evening on the main stage.
Proceeds support the Volunteer Center’s work in volunteer recruitment, as well as many in-house programs that include the annual GoKids School Supply Drive, various food drives throughout the year and the original Adopt-A-Family Christmas program.
Tickets are $50 and the
dress is semi-formal. This is a silver
anniversary event so guests are encouraged to dress along a silver theme. The event takes place in the Amelia Ballroom
with cocktails from 6-7 PM and food tasting from 7-9 PM. Tickets are non-refundable!

Schwartz says, “When it comes to food, everything you smell, touch, or do has to be handled carefully because one act of carelessness can destroy the final product.”

About the Chef: Chef-owner Willys De Assis is from Governador Valadares in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, situated in the third valley of the Rio Doce. He learned to cook from his mother, who ran a restaurant. He became a butcher influenced by his father-in-law and owned three butcher shops working with cousins and uncles, and then he ran a burger joint that became very well known.
