The most important of the building blocks in an artist’s career is the ability to interpret what they see. This class is crucial to beginners and beneficial to artists of all levels.

We will be learning how the two hemispheres of our brain work together and against each other in the process of learning to really see. We will convert three dimensional objects and subjects to a flat two dimensional surface. Then, with the aid of optical illusions such as linear perspective, shading, highlights, contrast and emphasis, we will create the illusion of depth on that flat surface.

In this workshop, you will learn the basic tools and tricks that the masters have used for centuries to make images from life that are accurate and beautiful to the eye! We will cover a lot of information through handouts that you will keep for your art journal references.

It is exciting to see what your brain is capable of doing when you don’t allow interference or distractions.

You are welcome to bring food and beverages for your breaks. invite your friends to register with you and make a party of learning or fly solo and trust your instincts! All materials will be provided.

You will NOT be bored!

Duration: 4 hours with breaks
