Inaugural Northeast Florida Lantern Festival • November 3 & 4, 5-9 PM

Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens

The Northeast Florida Lantern Festival, featuring a "Day of the Dead" (Dia de los Muertos) holiday theme, lights up this fall's special event schedule. The two-night, family friendly event will illuminate the trails of the 120-acre Arboretum, a truly unique natural gem of Jacksonville. Guests will enjoy myriad entertainment opportunities including live music, food trucks, craft cocktails and local brews, kids movies, a scavenger hunt, costume contest and more. Luminary bags will pepper the landscape, glowing lanterns will hang from trees, laser lights will be projected up into the forest—all creating a magical nighttime experience. In addition, each guest will receive a paper lantern and light to carry throughout the park, allowing each person to add to the glowing spectacle. If you are not familiar with the "Day of the Dead" theme, think of the Disney movie Coco. If you haven't seen Coco, you should watch it—it's a real tear-jerker, but also fun.

Costumes are encouraged. Weapons, real or fake, are NOT permitted. Costume masks covering the entire face are NOT permitted for guests over the age of 17.

Please Note: Lanterns will be carried and not released into the air. Releasing floating lanterns into the air is illegal in the state of Florida. Doing so is harmful to the environment and having hundreds of burning candles in a forest is never a good idea. All lanterns will have battery-operated lights. No open flame of any kind is permitted. Again, lanterns will not be released into the air.

Tickets will be sold in group packages for 2 guests and 4 guests, as well as individual admissions. Tickets include lanterns and lights, which will be provided at the Arboretum. A limited number of tickets and lanterns will be sold each night. Kids age 3 and under are admitted free (but will not be provided lanterns unless purchased). Proceeds benefit the Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, a local grassroots organization that protects and maintains more than 100 acres of unspoiled conservation land in Arlington. The Northeast Florida Lantern Festival is a partnership between Jacksonville Magazine and the Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens.

Parking onsite will be limited. Overflow parking will be available at the entrance before The Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, at Krav Maga located at 1400 Millcoe Rd, and at the closest Winn-Dixie on 1531 Monument Rd. Transportation shuttles will be provided
